I’ve spent about 1,5 days in hospitals to get all the blood work / x-rays and eye tests done. You have to stand in line for hours for every doctors office/ admission desk, it’s absolute as inefficient as in Prague, and absolute not everybody is friendly. But the big difference is: Everybody speaks (to some degree) English. So you can understand when they send you to “room nr 12”. Of course the next problem is to find that room, and when you found it they tell you to go back to where you came from and so on. The ExxonMobil office sent someone to help in the process, but it was a man so that didn’t help much. Men are not allowed in the women departments, so he had to wait in the carpark. Overall this hospital experience wasn’t traumatic, in contrary to the one time I was with Lars in a Czech state hospital.
The house is huge, stuffed with as many sofa’s and big armchairs as every American dreams of. We still haven’t found out if we can store all that when our own container arrives. It is not as light as our old house, you have to switch on some lights in daytime. That’s a shame, but understandable, you feel the outside heat when you approach the windows. The tiles on the floors are quite nice, as are the bathrooms. The curtains are neutral, and the walls are freshly painted a light yellow we could have picked ourselves. The furniture (apart from the 5 sofa’s and 7 armchairs including 3 purple ones) is quite nice as well, and will go well with our own furniture. Except from the ceiling lamps. They are not only ugly, but instead of normal light bulbs they put in those energy friendly things. Well, next time somebody needs to perform a surgery, they can use our living room, it’s that kind of light.
The garden will be a huge time saver comparing to Prague, there are about 8 shrubs, some grass and some dirt. The compound personnel will take care of the trimming. It’s just big enough to put a table and chairs.
Not that you want to be outside, it’s really hot. What brings the subject to the marvelous swimming pool. It is excellent, we spend 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon in the pool. So far we are often the only ones. Although this afternoon there was a 7 year old boy, who spoke the same half Dutch, half English language our boys usually speak.
