Easter egg hunt and bitterballen

This Saturday was the annual Easter egg hunt organized by the school of the boys. Close to school there's a forest, and teachers hide in the woods. When the kids find them, they have to answer a question (like: name an animal that lives in the woods) and get their card stamped. And then, most important of all, they will get some chocolate eggs or bunnies. So of course we went, all three boys with the Easter egg bucket I bought for them in the States. 99 dollar cents for a one gallon bucket, I think we had the biggest buckets of the whole school, we received a lot of comments!
Olav ran of with his friends and collected all the 8 stamps within an hour (partly on his hands because he lost his card) and lots of chocolate. Lars ran with him for a while, but I lost track of him... So after half an hour or so one of the parents called me that they had found a crying and lost Lars. Where would we be without a cell phone??? I was walking with Nils, who didn't want to run at all because he was not feeling well.
The weather was sunny, the second sunny day this year. But it was cold, about 3 degrees Celsius, 37 Fahrenheit. Small puddles were still frozen, and people were wearing their ski clothes. What a contrast with the egg hunt two years ago in Irving TX, organized by the church. Everybody was wearing shorts and flip flops, it was a big mess because all the chocolate had melted. It was impossible to unwrap them, and I had to put them in the fridge for a couple of hours.

After the hunt we all sat down for a picknick and had a good time.
Nils slept almost the whole afternoon, and was fine the next day.

Romke came home late in the afternoon from a business trip to Scotland and Dubai, he had to change planes at Schiphol, and guess what he bought there? Correct, old cheese, but also Van Dobben bitterballen!!! So our dinner consisted of french fries and bitterballen, just perfect.
