Today I was supposed to fly back from Cairo to Prague, but due to the volcano eruption things went differently. Romke had a business trip to Cairo on Monday and Tuesday, and he had asked me to join him. We would fly on Saturday morning, so we would have the Saturday night and Sunday together. Monday and Tuesday morning I would keep myself busy at the swimming pool and the gym of the hotel. We bought my parents a ticket to Prague, so they could take care of the kids. They came on Thursday afternoon, they had one of the last flights leaving Schiphol.
Anyhow, the weather was gorgeous here, and we made a change of plans and booked a 5 star hotel in Prague (the new Kings Court, opposite Palladium). We used the spa, we even used the gym. The room was very nice, service perfect, breakfast excellent. We had a nice dinner (Sarah Bernhart restaurant at hotel Paris next door) and were tourists for the weekend. We had coffee at every tourist trap you can imagine, and even bought a ticket to see the castle. First time since 1989 we saw the golden lane again.
So instead of turning 40 in Cairo, I celebrated it in good old Prague.
